The force shares 90% of the OS guts but some things are different. Not to mention there's a arranger coming very soon, which I undertand will not be available in MPC software. Live despite the latter costing more? It's still on their website in "new products" and you can still get directions to closest resellerģ) MPC X / One / Live use exactly the same software and have the same internal specs, so even if Live was not produced anymore I would imagine it would still be compatible with MPC v3 and future versionsĤ) I didn't mean Live handles samples better - I meant it was created to be primarily a sample-based machine, with 16 big pads and just 4 knobs, whereas Force - in addition - offers more & better control for launching clips, controlling parameters (8 knobs), actually PLAYING melodic stuff (MIDI) and has additional synth (Hype). Thanks for your thoughts! My view on that is:ġ) I actually found a deal where the difference between Force and Live is below $100 so price isn't really a deciding factor for me,Ģ) I don't think Live was really discontinued, it's just out of stock perhaps to drum up demand for One - perhaps Akai has a higher profit margin on One vs. + much more and more versatile controls (pads, 8 encoders)Īm I getting it right, that - although not very clear cut - Live is MORE for working with samples and loops, whereas Force is a more BALANCED device both for samples/audio and MIDI & plugins?īTW, this is the type of music I'm talking about that I do: + more synthesis options (above + Hype), probably more CPU power? no Song Mode (although new arranger is said to come out in Q1 and was shown at NAMM) limited (if any?) integration with MPC Software limited synthesis options (Bassline, Tubesynth, Electric) without computer, ideally off-grid but not necessarily), to limit my options and be able to focus on finishing things rather than tweaking stuff endlessly :)
